Welcome to Crabapple Cottage in the heart of westside Bend! The first thing you'll notice when you arrive is the enormous heritage crabapple tree in the front yard. Pull into the extra long driveway and relax. You've arrived!
This sweet home is high on modern style while staying true to its vintage roots. Several kayaks and a SUP are provided too. This charming home has 2+ bedrooms (queen, queen) plus a little Harry Potter loft (twin), sleeper sofa (full) and one full bathroom. This is a sweet 2+ bedroom home that sleeps a max of 6 people. Be certain you are comfortable sharing 1 bathroom.
DOWNTOWN LOCATION
This is a sweet and lovely residential neighborhood. Welcome to the Westside of Bend. Just a few minutes walk in any direction to some of the best parks, food, shopping, pastries, you name it. This is the heart of the Bend.
Crabapple Cottage is only 2 blocks to the pedestrian bridge over Mirror Pond. This is a perfect put-in for kayaking and SUPing. Downtown Bend is just across the bridge. Amble 1 block to Newport Avenue and here you'll find Bend's original gourmet grocer, Newport Market and several nearby shops and restaurants. Wander a few blocks south and you'll be on Galveston Avenue, home of 10 Barrel, The Lot food carts, Sunriver Brewing and lots more! Mt Bachelor is just 20 minutes up the road in the summer. This is the amazing Westside location you've been hoping for your Bend stay!
HEATING & COOLING
A classic mill cottage, Crabapple Cottage has central heat and window A/C to keep you warm in the winter and cool in the summer. Window or portable A/Cs are placed in Spring in both bedrooms and in the living room.
SLEEPING ARRANGEMENTS
The 2+ bedrooms (queen, queen, loft twin) and sleeper sofa (full) in the living room provide sleeping for up to 6. Please note that the loft is accessed through the blue bedroom Like usual, sleeper sofas are usually the most comfortable for kiddos or one smaller person. We provide European style bedding for all 4 beds along with extra pillows and blankets. A Pack & Play crib and high chair are also provided.
BATHROOM & WASHER DRYER
There is one bathroom in this home so please be sure your group is good with sharing. The petite bathroom is clean and sturdy. You'll find cute and sparkling subway tile throughout. Enjoy a combination 4ft cowboy tub and shower. A European style combination washer/dryer is provided, along with detergent for your stay.
KITCHEN & DINING
The kitchen is fully stocked for the chef. Gas cooking and lots of counterspace make meals easy and fun. Seating for 6 is provided, 4 at the table and 2 at the bar. We always supply basic oils and spices for your use too. You'll find all the expected appliances (drip coffee maker, oven, stove, fridge, dishwasher, microwave, toaster) plus more.
SMART TV & FREE WIFI
A 55 inch screen smart Roku TV in the living room will allow you to stream your subscriptions or watch any of the 350+ free channels. Free 1 gig wifi in the home, too. Upstairs in the Harry Potter Loft you find a 2nd TV with smart Roku, sound system and an Xbox 360 with some games.
OUTDOOR SPACES AND SEVERAL RIVER TOYS
You'll love having an open front porch where you can relax and watch Bend drift by. There is large, open grassy front yard and backyard. The backyard is fully fenced and perfect for lounging in the sun. The BBQ is just outside the backyard and propane is provided. We have a new patio table on order and we will update this as soon as it arrives. We do ask you to be whisper quiet in the yards after 10pm.
This home also provides several adult floating toys for your stay! There are 2 standard kayaks, 2 sit-on-top kayaks, and a SUP. Please make sure your group is qualified and safe to use the water toys. Adult life jackets are provided. We do not provide kids life jackets or water toys. Please visit Farewell Bend Park for kid safe rentals. Grab a kayak or SUP and walk 2 blocks to the put in at the foot bridge by Pageant Park on Mirror Pond.
PARKING
Feel free to park in the very long gravel driveway. There is ample room for 3 vehicles if everyone pulls forward. Street parking is free as well.
GEAR STORAGE
The small storage room attached to the garage is perfect for gear storage. This is a locked storage space and will fit your larger items like bikes and skis. The garage bay is not available at this time.
This is a vibrant and bustling location, especially in the summer. The Mirror Pond float tube take out is just a couple blocks away street in Drake Park. Various festivals and events visit Drake Park during the summer months. Winter time is more serene as the Deschutes River slows and the park has dustings of snow.
